Legal Carry in State & federal Parks for CWP holders....

April 5th, 2010.   I am currently watching the Channel 29 news out of Charlottesville, Va.   The headlines are that an un-identified shooter has injured people with a shotgun.  I DOUBT THIS SHOTGUN IS REGISTERED and I DOUBT IF THIS IS A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN perpetrating this crime.  THEY do not care about the law.  However,   this is the very reason I have written opinions before for authorities to please consider allowing LAW ABIDING citizens, who are following the rules, to carry concealed weapons in the PARKS.  I have a CWP and my daughter, son-in-law, grandchild were just talking on Easter about taking a trip in the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline drive.  We really want to for my grandson. However, after the news today it is evident again if someone wants to harm us then we have no legal way to protect or preserve my grandson's life while in the PARKS.  A stick will not stop an evil minded person not caring about breaking the law.  BUT...God forbid...should this have happened to citizens allowed to protect themselves then instead of spending manhours & resources looking for this criminal then he may be right where the crime first happened if we are allowed to protect ourselves and enjoy the freedoms the parks have to offer.  Right now...I would not put my family at risk.  I don't care how may commercials the GOVERNOR makes about us enjoying the PARKS.  Make it common knowledge people now can protect themselves and you won't see quite as many crazies on this PARK PLAYGROUND where they know the odds are on their side.
