In support of the proposed amendment to 4VAC10-30-170 ... AND OPEN CARRY

I currently carry both open and concealed. I do this in order to take personal responsibility for the safety of myself and of my family. I do this because I wish to be prepared for any threat of robbery, assault, murder, etc.

These threats always exist in any location, and this is no less true in State Parks. Indeed, it may be more true in State Parks, due the the nature of a park: isolation, no lighting, no police patrols, no "witnesses", etc.

The "bad guys" will not obey any signs or laws prohibiting the carrying of weapons. They know that law-abiding citizens WILL obey such signs and laws. They count on it. To deny me of the means to protect myself and my family from such threats is unforgivable.
