In favor of CE

I am in support of Continuing Education requirements for Professional Engineers and others.

The notion that one can take an exam once, albeit a grueling one, and then be qualified to practice for life is absurd.  It is also not enough to say that one is qualified to practice simply because they have been practicing for years without a Board complaint.  This regulation adds some level of assurance for continuing competence.

Also, nearly every other profession (law, medicine, accounting, etc.) has a continuing education requirement.  It should be noted that these professions consistently earn more than engineers.  We need to do more to promote ourselves as a profession, and CE is a big piece of that.
