Just this month I have had 2 students ask how to renew if they did not have a checking account or credit card. They were told they would have to go in person to the Department. Not only is the $20.00 fee too much, it adds another undue burdon on those who have very little and are trying to get by. Both were single mothers going through very hard times and could not get a credit card. These are those that this will affect. They need breaks not more costs. I also have heard that the Department is considering not taking Cash. That will really hurt those who are already distressed. Since the Department cannot keep the money anyway, why place the burden on anyone.
