Law enforcement can not and should not protect every citizen at all times and in all places, particularly in the remote areas of our State Parks.  Virginia provides a permit process to allow law-abiding citizens to carry a concealed handgun for lawful self defense, and I respectfully urge the Virginia Department of Forestry to amend the Administrative Code to recognize these State permits in our State Parks.
