4VAC10-30-170 Concealed Hand Guns in State Forests

I would urge you to permit carrying concealed handguns in state forests by those of us who have a concealed handgun carry permit. Those of us who have the permit have been checked for a criminal background. We are law abiding citizens or we would not have the permit in the first place. Since state forests are occasionally used by drug growers and for other lawless activities it seems to me that carrying concealed weapons might be a good idea. Also there are rattlesnakes in the mountainous areas and some form of defense would be a necessary.

We also have Second Amendment Rights which are violated when firearm possesion is limited by government. The other issue is that the criminals in our society will carry regardless of the law. In Australia firearm possesion has been made illegal and gun crime has gone through the roof.

Therefore I believe that licensed concealed carry should be permited Thank you for your consideration.
