The Firearms Coalition Supports Open and Concealed Carry

There are many dangers in our State Forests from wildlife, uncontrolled domestic animals, and criminals.  For many people, the only time they are interested in carrying a firearm is when they are out hiking in the woods.  It is ridiculous that Virginia residents who can legally carry a firearm without any special permit or government permission virtually anywhere in the state, must disarm if they wish to take a walk in the woods.

The Firearms Coalition - representing over 3000 grass roots organizations, clubs, and individuals nationwide - strongly supports repealing restrictions on personal protection firearms within Virginia State Forests.  We not only support lifting restrictions on lawful concealed carry, but also call for lifting restrictions on lawful open carry of personal protection firearms by persons who have no special permit or government permission to do so.

The right of self-defense should not be suspended when visiting Virginia State Forests.
