I'm strongly in favor of this change. As I understand it, an employee who does not already enroll a spouse may enroll one adult individual for benefit coverage IF that person (and the employee) meet eligibility coverage. Further, THE EMPLOYEE PAYS THE FULL COST OF EXTENDING COVERAGE to the Other Qualified Adult. Simple fairness. There seems an undue focus and worry about extending this benefit to same sex couples. It could also pertain to a variety of family situations - parent, sibling or housemate unable to work.
