Makes Sense

This proposal is socially just, and, at the same time, makes sense for state employees.

- It equalizes benefits. Currently, unmarried employees are compensated unfairly. No one should get fewer benefits simply because she or he is not married.

- It provides more state employees with protection against financial devastation in the case that a partner, adult child, or parent becomes ill or injured. We all know that marriage isn't the only adult relationship that results in financial responsibility, and our policies should reflect that knowledge.

- It makes Virginia a more attractive place to work, and the state a more attractive employer.

It's in our interest to support this proposal!
