Purpose of the meeting
Public meeting on studies of several water bodies in the tidewater regional area. DEQ will provide information and discuss the studies. During the study, DEQ will develop a Total Maximum Daily Load for the impaired waters. The following waters were identified as impaired; Albemarle Canal, North Landing River-middle, West Neck Creek-middle, Milldam Creek-lower, Nawney Creek-upper, and Nawney Creek-lower. Several impaired segments were identified as needing an assessment, these are Tarrara Creek, Mill Swamp, Rattlesnake Swamp, Seacock Swamp-upper, and Blackwater River. The public comment period on materials presented at this meeting will extend from July 28, 2009 to August 26, 2009. The public notice appears in the Virginia Register of Regulations on July 20, 2009.
