| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing to receive comments on an application from VEPCO to build a new industrial waste landfill. The Curley Hollow Solid Waste Management Facility is a captive landfill and will dispose of fossil fuel combustion products from the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center. The industrial landfill will be developed in three phases with two cells in each phase. Leachate will be collected in a pond and delivered to a treatment facility at the power plant site. Ground water monitoring will be conducted during the active life of the facility and for a 10 year post-closure period. Haulage will be by truck on roads built and maintained by VEPCO. The public comment period beings on April 24, 2009 and ends on June 17, 2009. | |
