Policing the Illegal Operators / Increasing State revenue.

Since the state cut back on personnel who regularly canvassing Barber Shops, Hair Salons and other establishments under this Board, there have been a large increase in the number of public (working in shop) illegal operators.

Some estimate the numbers across the board at between 35 and 40%

I recommend the Board of Barbers and Cosmetology considers a move to require a pictures on all License issued by the Board at $15.00 each, or whatever the board deem appropriate.

The process could be structured along the lines of sending a verification form with the licensee renewal notice to have a picture taken with verification and the professional license number to be ON the official picture, the picture to be submitted along with the renewal fee.

it would be hepful to adjust the rule or law to require the operator to display the license on their station, instead fo the current way.

This would eliminate the illegals under cutting the professionals legally licensed by the board. This would channel millions of dollars annually in state revenue.

Fifteen dollars amounts to about a good tip for the professional and a boost in revenue with the illegal’s no longer cutting into the professional’s income.
