As a veterinarian, we rely heavily on our support staff. Not all of our staff at different locations has a licensed vet tech available at all times. Our experienced/trained support staff under our supervision as veterinary professionals should, I believe, absolultely be allowed to place catheters (peripheral, not jugular) to help maintain quick/efficient/quality care in all areas of medicine (i.e. rural clinics, shelters, etc.) As a veterinarian, I FULLY SUPPORT the placement of peripheral catheters IV from non licensed, trained technicians. Thank you for your time. -- Dr. SB
