As a licensed Acupuncturist with 15 yrs of training, I am totally against a Physical Therapist using "dry needling". It is absurd to even assume a Physical Therapist with no trainging in Acupuncture can practice this modality. It is ACUPUNCTURE!!!!! You have to be licensced and insured to pracitice Acupuncture. Let's just look at the function of the point, if someone just puts a needle in another person - energy is exchanged and if you don't know what you are doing, you can harm someone. How can you perfom Acupuncture and not be trained as an Acupuncturist?
It is ridiculous to assume dry needling is safe. NO DRY NEEDLING FOR A PT
