Shackling pregnant inmates

Dear Sir or Madam -- I just learned that some local and regional prisons in Virginia shackle pregnant inmates, even during labor and delivery. This sounds like an overreach. Moreover, to the extent shackling increases the risk of falling, this policy could endanger the babies these women are carrying.

I urge to you seek a more humane and respectful approach to this situation. Thank you!
