pregnant prisoner treatment

As an adoptive parent I have never delivered a baby, but the thought of anyone doing it in shackles sound barbaric to me.

I also believe that the baby is picking up the mother's attitude prior to birth, and it seems that the discomfort might be passed on to the baby at a critical time.  (For example there are studies correlating grief and loss during the mother's pregnancy with life long depression in people).

Please reconsider this practice.
