Action is Exempt from Article 2 of the Administrative Process Act
Action:
Repeal of Mold Inspector and Mold Remediator Regulatory Program
Action 3717

General Information
Action Summary After a comprehensive review across state government, Governor McDonnell’s Commission on Government Reform and Restructuring recommended de-regulation of the mold program. At its 2012 Session, the General Assembly passed legislation endorsing the proposal to de-regulate the mold program, and Governor McDonnell signed the bills (HB 1291 and SB 678 – Chapter 803 of the Acts of Assembly). By statute, effective July 1, 2012, mold remediation and mold inspection will revert to being un-regulated activities, meaning state credentials will not be required to perform those activities. Therefore, the Mold Inspector and Remediator Regulations must be repealed.
