Sadly, we again see Governor Northam taking preferring political ideology to good medical practice by pushing for a ban on therapy for gender confused teens.  Can we get the politics and the special interest groups out of medicine in this Commonwealth, please?  Repeated peer reviewed studies in Europe have shown that homosexuality and gender dysphoria are in the overwhelming majority of cases the product of environmental and social factors and therefore responsive to treatment.  Whilst I would disapprove of forcing treatment on those who do not want it as an infringement of civil rights, it should also be understood that preventing those who wish to receive treatment, or are the guardians of children needing such treatment, is likewise and infringement of civil rights.  It is a further symptom of society's slow slide into repressive dictatorship.
