Book Burning Days back Again

This reminds me of the book burning days when classic liteature became "controversial". I am opposed to this amendment that is placed to declare what is and isn't controversial. Can't teachers just be trusted to discern what is appropriate for their students.

We cannot continue to dummy down the education of our children. Every experience is an education. Do you think students will not meet "controversial" in their real life? Don't youthink they already do at home and in the community!

Rather than removing material from the curriculum, we should be teaching students to think for themselves and provide the controversial to engage their thinking!
