This amendment will ensure that there are defined procedures in place for schools to work with parents when parents are concerned about subject matter content.   Concerned parents know and love their children and have a grave responsibility to nurture what is good, true and beautiful.  We aren't sheltering them from reality.  We are preparing them to face reality with strength and purpose, and we know the timing for this process.  Teachers and parents are working for the same purpose to develop these treasures into wise, caring adults.  But ultimately the parent-child bond supersedes the teacher-student relationship and must be respected by the state.

Why wasn't the concerned parent in Fairfax able to resolve her disagreement with her son's AP English class teacher within current policy and procedures?  This leads me to believe that the process ends refinement which will support parental involvement and reduce conflict between parents and schools.
