As a concerned citizen, taxpayer, parent and grandparent, it still amazes me that the schools are trying to undermine the role of the parent by exposing students to sexually explicit books dealing with sodomy, beastiality, and worse.

As a the Springfield member of Fairfax County Public Schools, FLECAC [Family Life Education] Committee, we carefully examine what is taught in the schools concerning sex education, sexuality, and related topics in the appropriate classroom settings [Biology class, Health Education classes, etc.]. Parents are given the opportunity to have their children OPT-OUT of topics that they find to be too graphic or against their beliefs.

There are so many timeless Classics which could be read by the students, instead of the questionable ones being pushed on impressionable young people. Degrading novels have no place as "required reading" for our children.
