Do not make changes

Do not amend the current regulations regarding gifted education.  As a parent of a gifted child, I know very well that gifted students have needs that are important to their successful education.  You would not consider, for one moment, taking away tools from a special needs child that would be crucial to their success... so why would this be different for a gifted child?    Forward progress has been made in the gifted area of our education system.  In order to continue on this path forward, you need people who understand gifted education and have training in gifted education to guide this program.  School board members are not the people with this training and should not be expected to guide as though they are.  It would be doing a great disservice to the students of our community to not offer programs that enhance their skills, bring out their strengths, and make them overall better citizens.  It is also not acceptable for us as parents to accept anything less from our educational system than the best.  These amendments are not for the best.
