No Gifted Child Left Behind!

The most pressing concern, in my opinion, is Virginia's proposal to placing final approval of local gifted plans in "local hands," rather than the State approval currently required.  In the day and age of acountability and "standards based" education, I feel it is important that Virginia schools are afforded the same opportunities, and gifted education is no exception.  Having a Local Plan reviewed by professionals outside of your division allows for a fresh perspective to better serve the needs of ALL the gifted children in Virginia.

Secondly, I feel that funds designated by the state for gifted education should be used only for that purpose: GIFTED EDUCATION programs.  Please consider closing the loop hole that may allow our already underfunded programs some protection.

Thank you for your consideration.
