Do not approve of proposed regulations to 8VAC20-40

We need advancement, not a step back - while making sure that the regulations can be administered.

We must absolutely and  unequivocally NOT allow these regulations to pass, as this revision will mean that the programs will be reasssed annually. Gifted programs need time to grow, and the writers of these plans need time to discuss, research, and reflect.  One-year plans will be more time-consuming and less effective.

Please do not hinder the progress that  has been made in this state.  Virginia’s citizens deserve better.  We need to provide better technology education for these identified children, where not just the technology tools, but the technology concepts are also introduced.  Current gifted program lacks the implementation in 6-8 grades - and some how it is viewed that the IB program replaces gifted program - which is not correct!

Five year program does need revision, but for the better, not for the worse.

I write as a parent of talented children, as a technology proponent, and as a citizen of Henrico County, Virginia.  Please do not pass the revisions to these regulations.
