Maintain the Integrity of Gifted Ed. Policy and Regulations

As a parent of gifted children and a teacher of children identified with disabilities, I understand first hand the importance of funding all childrens' needs in public education.  Any proposed policy that threatens the proper education of all children is innately flawed in principle.  I believe any state policy passed must promote or not impede the prosperity of its residence.  Even though proposed regulations are not directly unconsitutional they do not promote the best interest of Virginia's future gifted student population.  NCLB regulations have already done enough to limit the creativity process of education for those not identified as gifted or with exceptional needs.   We don't need additional policy to limit gifted and talented students acess to creativity and expression.  As others have previously mentioned in protest our nation has to move toward educating our students for a Global Economy and we have to be better prepared to face international competition in all areas.  Gifted students drive innovation and progress in our great nation.  We must preserve the integrity of the state's gifted program.  Don't adopt the proposed changes that impede progress.

Thank you
