The current system for Gifted Education works well.

I have an 11-year old who has benefitted from gifted education this past school year in elementary school and now is beginning the program in middle school.  It works.  It has been miraculous to see him grow from a kid who was bored and frustrated in school to a child who sees his abilities as an opportunity to learn more and to do more with his life.  I am a private school graduate and I graduated from Harvard Univesity .  Given my own education, it is especially meaningful to me to be able to say that I want nothing more for my son than to continue in this outstanding program.  This program is the reason that my son can continue in public school and the combination of public school and gifted education is the best combination of "real world" and "real excellence."  I could not be more grateful.  I hope that no changes will be made to the current program.
