reject proposed changes to support of gifted education

As the parent of two students in gifted ed programs, I strongly request that you reject the proposed changes and that gifted education be fully supported and funded In today's global environmenmt it is crucial that our public school system cultivate and nourish our gifted students Programs such as the Maggie Walker Governor's School and the International Baccalaureate Diploma provide a challenging educational experience which prepares our future leaders for the world stage - whether in business, government, science, non profit, education, or other institutions

I know that my children would not be in the public school system if gifted education were not available They learn so much from the gifted teachers, curriculum, and fellow students that might be lost were they forced into private schooling by a "teach to the middle attitude" Our public schools promote diversity, understanding, and tolerance By having gifted ed available in our public schools we are truly educating well rounded students and future leaders

It is vital that all students receive the best education possible Please continue to support and increase funding for the gifted education initiatives
