The proposed changes to the gifted regulations  should not be adopted.  Their adoption would serve to undermine the progress that the Commonwealth of Virginia has achieved in providing appropriate educational experiences and opportunities  for our brightest and most capable students.

The role of  VDOE is vital and provides  guidance  and direction for organizational design to  local districtts across the state.  An annual time frame for lsubmitting ocal plans does not provide adequate time for  propram evaluation  which should  include modifications and/or revisions.

As currently expressed by many, "No child should be left behind and that  sentiment does include  the gifted child".
