The current regulations set a standard for all school districts. The proposed changes could unfortunately create local control that could alter standards and impact gifted student  curriculum.  Asking school divisions to adopt a yearly plan without peer review and oversight by the VA Dept. of Education will create additional work for administrators & board members & divert attention from long-range planning.. Necessary funding for Gifted programs could be diverted into other programming deemed more important by local school boards.  Please reconsider these changes in regulations and keep what's working well for the Gifted & Talented in school divisions throughout the Commonwealth.
