Do Not Approve the Proposed Revisions of Regulations Governing Gifted Programs in Virginia

The Board of Education should not approve the proposed revisions of regulations governing gifted programs in Virginia.   Virginia has always been a leader and model for how states should govern and support gifted education programs.  Accepting these proposed revisions would not benefit gifted students, but rather place limits on services and program funding.

The Board of Education should instead adopt the changes submitted by the Virginia Association for the Gifted, Virginia Consortium of Gifted Education Administrators, and Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted.  The changes recommended by these three organizations will maintain strong programs and move gifted students into the 21st Century.
