My child is no different from a special needs child in his inherent need for specialized programs to succeed.  Though this fact was difficlut for me to accept, I am forced to see that it is imperative that he receive specialized services. It is vital for him to have a program which reaches beyond the regular classroom to meet his needs.  Without gifted education, he will lose the opportunity to develop his true potential in his education and life in general.  We provide enrichment opportunities at home as responsible parents.  It is imperative that this be reaffirmed where he attends every day.  My greatest fear is that we don't reach these kids when it is most important and they fall away, thinking that education is only created for mediocrity.
