Gifted Education Recommended Reg. Changes.

Comment Title: Gifted education recommended Reg. Changes.

The NAACP recommended changes in Gifted Education were santioned at the October 2009 State Convention.  We felt amendments to the gifted education regulations would allow for equity in education .  I strongly urge our elected and appointed officials to accept and implement The NAACP recommendations which will result in a more equitable gifted and governor’s school program throughout Virginia  where we as taxpayers will feel more comfortable with our tax dollars being spent for education outside of the indivdual district in the special schools for the gifted.   Minority and low-income gifted students will receive needed services so they can reach their fullest potential and make their necessary contribution to Virginia, the United States, and our global community.

In my rural area,  the barriers  to be considered for the program need to be removed as this has been an ongoing issue.
