Under Representation of Minority Students
Minority students have always been under represented in school systems that are predominantly Caucasian. This is nothing new and has been overlooked many times. These children who do receive outstanding grades need to be recognized more and congratulated on their amazing efforts. I do understand that there are academic programs and scholarships that are specifically for minority students, but these students almost never get chosen for these programs or even considered for that matter, even though most of the time they meet the set criteria for the program or scholarship. This is 2010 and more of these gifted students need more recognition than what they are barely receiving as is.
