Sustainable Energy

We need to create microgrids with solar panels and battery storage to provide reliable electricity for hospitals, schools, and other community centers that can provide shelter during hurricanes and other storms.

State laws and regulations should incentivize individuals and businesses to install solar panels and batteries to provide reliable electricity.  Decentralized generation can minimize the need for building new high-voltage transmission lines.

Electricity rates that impose high demand charges on commercial customers should be revised so it will be cost-effective for businesses to invest in geothermal heating/cooling as well as solar panels.

The faster we replace generating plants using fossil fuels with electricity from non-carbon sources, the faster we can mitigate the impacts of a warming climate.
