Virginia must be a leader in a Just Transition towards renewable energies, modernizing the power grid, and providing support for job training in the various aspects of these efforts. Workforce efforts can be particularly focused in western Virginia to help shift economies away from coal, through manufacturing, installation, and similar. We cannot afford any new investments in fossil fuels, but we must plan to support the most impacted by climate change, which will only bolster those already more insulated. 

Consumer protections are also needed; if Dominion remains a monopoly, stringent guardrails must be implemented to prevent profiteering and undue enrichment, along with aggressive goals to provide distributed renewable energy, modernize the grid, and abandon unhealthy and unsafe fossil fuel infrastructure.
