| Purpose of the meeting PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host the second Community Engagement meeting for the Moores and Mill Creek Cleanup Plan on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and any member of the public may participate in the proceedings. The meeting participants will assist in development of a cleanup plan, also known as an Implementation Plan (IP), to address benthic impairments of Moores and Mill Creeks in Rockbridge County, which have been listed on Virginia’s § 303(d) list of impaired waters for failing to meet Virginia’s water quality standards due to an altered benthic community. The meeting will discuss implementation strategies, associated costs, funding opportunities, and an implementation timeline.
