Summary This Policy and Procedures Directive instructs agency field staff to mail Voter Registration Applications directly to the Virginia Department of Elections using specialized envelopes designed specifically for that purpose. Applications will be mailed directly to the National Voter Registration Act Voter Registration Coordinator on the day an individual has completed the form.

Explanation or Citations Change of agency policy ensures that Voter Registration Applications are submitted to the Virginia Department of Elections in a timely manner. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 requires that agencies submit Voter Registration Applications to the Department of Elections within ten days of an individual signing the document or five days before voter registration deadline for an election
