Proposed DMAS regulation on guidance for UAI screenings for children

The Adult Services program at the Virginia Department of Social Services fully supports proposed regulations providing specialized guidance on developmental milestones for Pre-admission Screening Teams in completing the Uniform Assessment Instrument (UAI) for children applying for long-term care services. PAS Teams are comprised of local social workers and public health nurses. The guidelines were developed by an interagency team including Adult Services, Health and DMAS staff and have been tested in the field.  The guidelines will allow screeners to assess and record more accurately a child's level of care needs and thus enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of the screening process and services provided to eligible children..
