This is in response to the transgender policy for VA Public schools:
Honestly it’s just disgraceful how many of these commenters are so wrongly misinformed of who transgender students are and the struggles they go through. In no way will a rule like this endanger your ‘straight’ students lives, it will only help create and put it place a policy that better supports these students maneuver the struggles of understanding their own sexuality while they are already most likely dealing with ostracizing by their peer and school community. Please pass this policy so that every student an an equal opportunity to a safe and fair education. Putting policies in place to help transgender students will not only help those students but create an overall more understanding, empathetic and safe environment for the school as a whole. Places of education should be for learning but also for molding students into citizens who can learn to accept and embrace differences which are what make our country so great.
