Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Oppose new policies

I will absolutely pull my children out of public schools. You can not expect my granddaughter to be in a locker room with a male and undress. Absolutely not. And to punish others for not using certain words is ridiculous i wish someone would call child protective services on me. So those kids who have certain religions are just silenced as always. You cant control peoples minds..i have a feeling you will loose alot of students. Parents are going to allow this. For students who have strong religious beliefs to make them sit in a class being taught something they dony beleive is child abuse. having a girl undress in front of males is child abuse. And i will file a law suit everyday against the schools if mine are forced to do this  if you cant ask the transgender male to undress in front of boys because it would be  abuse hiw can it not be abuse to the others. Basically our children dont matter and that is why mine will be home schooled.
