Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Opposed to Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools

As a concerned Virginia citizen and parent of 3, I would strongly oppose the Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools to instruct students in K-12 schools in Virginia on anything other than their biological gender.  The biological gender has been the model for all males and females throughout world history, and any other concerns of feelings of gender apart from the biological gender should be discussed and overcome with the help of professional counselors.

A K-12 school setting should never be the training grounds for gender confusion.  It is impossible for a school system to handle the problems and the abuse that will come from this false training.

Each individual is clearly created at birth with their biological sex which is either male or female.  Any feelings that are different from that biological sex gender should be loving, thoughtfully addressed by their parents or medical professional so that they can fully reach their potential in life with the gender that they were created with.

I ask that all training that is contrary to biological gender be held out of our school system!  I would strongly and lovingly oppose ANY and ALL training that goes against the biological gender from birth.
