Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Draft Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students

Keep in mind the language used in the Draft Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students: “common issues,” “evidence-based best practices,” and “for all students.”

As an American, a veteran, a parent, and longtime resident of Virginia. After seeing your “draft model policies for the treatment of transgender students,” I am mortified at what our Virginia General Assembly has directed the Department of Education (VDOE) to do to our children, and to us as parents through our children’s youthful naivete, impressionable state, and vulnerability to your institutional bullying, and special interest social-psychological engineering and indoctrination.

Your attack on our children and through our children to numb and silence both them and us (as their parents, their natural biological and indeed lawful guardians) so that you can install your socio-psychological dictatorship in our neighborhood, towns, cities, states, and nation is a crime that goes far beyond the pale.  You, The Virginia General Assembly and Virginia Department of Education, are presently and clearly attempting to subvert science, ethics, morality, The Constitution of the United States of America, our freedom of speech, and right to think for ourselves as human beings.

In fact, you have selected the battlefield of our children’s very minds, because your weaponized totalitarian social-psychological engineering rhetoric has limited affect against a well-educated and informed adult population.  You cry wolf, you wag your finger at, and falsely accuse children and parents of that which you yourself do in order to flip the narrative, to flip truth on its head. Yes, it is you The Virginia General Assembly, and Virginia Department of Education that IS bullying, shoving aside, dismissing, name calling, stigmatizing, and deceiving Virginian Citizens.  It is clear from your very references and source material that this is a targeted offensive attack on our children and our fellow Virginian citizens right to think and choose for ourselves.

I am reminded of that classic album, I think you know it, I think you forgot the message of it as well; remember that album, The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd, Second Part, “Another Brick In The Wall?” Remember:

“We don't need no education

We don't need no thought control

No dark sarcasm in the classroom

Teacher, leave them kids alone

Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone

All in all it's just another brick in the wall”

In 2019, Jessica Shelton—writing for Song Meanings and Facts—wrote that:

“In the second part, the narrator recalls his schooling days where his ‘evil’ teachers wanted nothing but to control him to do things in a particular way. He describes the teachers in a negative light. He apparently feels they gain some kind of gratification from mentally abusing and punishing children. The chorus urges a protest by kids against this kind of fixed technique which immaturely impedes creativity in young children.  The narrator also depicts the nature of certain behavioral controls that were introduced in schools during that period. … This kind of conditioning seems to have had an adverse effect on the singer who eventually qualifies it as another brick in the wall.” (Emphasis added. Also see reference below)

School is not the place to inject, inculcate, dictate to children or parents the agenda of the special interest groups.  It is not the place where The Virginia General Assembly nor the Department of Education nor the education system in general gets to “condition” our children’s minds into little bricks and fit them into their socially engineered institutional wall so that they can contain the parents and blot out their natural and God given authority to choose how to raise our children.  The “common issues” of trans-gender children, or otherwise, is the sole responsibility of the parents and the paraprofessionals or professionals of their choosing to address in the privacy of their own homes, lives, or doctors’ offices.  All children, and the children before them had to come to grips and deal with the realities of life around them.  Oh please!  That “evidence-based best practices” is nothing more than a weapon thrown at administrators, teachers, parents, and students to disarm them and bend them into lock-step conformity.  Look at the special interest groups that are behind this, look at the party of your state government for a minute, just a second even.  They selected the sources behind the “evidence-based best practices” to conveniently fit their agenda.  They did so because they have the power and position to do as thy please, and there is no balance nor objectiveness in their walking roughshod over us.  It says, “For all students,” but that is yet another tactic to disarm every echelon of resistance, and they do it well indeed.

The Nazis (Hitler) did this, the Soviets (Stalin) did this, Mao Tse-tung did this, and millions died.  They spread misinformation, disinformation, outright lies socially, scientifically, economically, and of religions. Children, friends, relatives, and neighbors turned against each other.  We have a Constitution, a Bill of Rights, freedom of speech, and we have choice; anyone, anyone seeking to demand control of our thinking, take away our speech, and choice, and even to the extent of using our children against us, are indeed marching down the very same road that led these three tyrants to power, and subsequently to murder their own people.  Yes, I am talking about you, every member of The Virginia Department of Education, and every special interest army (organization) you have lined up behind you, and every “fifth-column” parent that supports you; you are the Hitler, the Stalin, the Mao that seeks to kill freedom of thought, speech, and choice.  Yes, you seek to preach your religion in front of the class, in the hallways, in the lunchroom, and in the auditorium.

Your proposed doctrine, your “draft model policies for the treatment of transgender students,” has informed all Virginians exactly what you will do if they think differently, if they voice their conscience, or position, or if they do not use your special list of words, or if they choose to oppose you.  How many children will you take prisoner in the end?  What will your social engineering anthem be? What will your pledge of allegiance be?    The Virginia General Assembly, the Virginia Department of Education, those special interest groups, and anyone else foisting this on Virginians ought to be ashamed of themselves.  Organizations, administrators, teachers, parents, and students ought to protest, and/or walk out if applicable.  I for one, do not need a totalitarian dictatorship or the totalitarian minded special interest groups, state officials, or anyone else to tell me how to love and respect another human being, whether that other human being is gay, straight, trans-gender or otherwise.  I wasn't raised to treat people disrespectfully.  It is your “Progressive-ism” that seeks to hate, hurt, and disenfranchise.

I sign this anonymously because the “Progressives”--Democrats'--target those who speak out for justice.
