Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

No way no how

This bill and any similar to it rejects the rights of parents and the legal rights and guardianship thereof. This bill is a direct violation of those rights and is discriminatory as such against people of religious faith, parents, and any school staff members who disagree with this manifesto on moral grounds. No where in this bill do you affirm the rights of any of those groups to reject this indoctrination. This is a shameful and disgusting bill that seeks to make religious beliefs criminal and goes directly against the 1st amendment in the us constitution.

similarly this is yet another unfunded mandate passed down by the state, on an already over burdened school system. You want to push your agenda and punish any who reject it but also want us to not support parental wishes including minors in elementary school and you further choose to hide any of this from parents who do not approve. School documents are legal documents, not documents that can be changed on a whim one day or the next bc you feel like a man or woman or nothing and want to change your name or gender. School documents need to reflect the students legal name and gender as given them at birth by their parents and determined by the physician.  You further want the schools to produce new documents for any student who graduated but now wants to be called something else, even if it’s not legally changed, you expect us to spend our time and money to reproduce diplomas and schools records with their new desired name. Come work in a school for one year and tell me we are not over worked, under staffed, and under paid, and discriminated against bc of our religious beliefs, it’s do this or be fired.
