Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

VDOE draft of treatment of "transgender" students

I take great issue with the guidelines being proposed for our students.  I will just mention a couple.

Parents who encourage their children to embrace their God-given sex would be at risk of being reported for child abuse or neglect.  This completely flies in the face of our constitutional rights to practice our religion, the rights of parents to make decisions for their minor children, and that this whole issue flies in the face of biological science and DNA.  You are actually telling parents and God Himself that God, the perfect creator of the universe can make mistakes.  When you allow any boys and girls to use whatever locker rooms you are just asking for sexual harassment  especially of young girls, many who will be intimidated, fearful and hurt. You are not using common sense but rather allowing a small minority who need care, understanding and counseling to set the rules for everyone else and putting everyone at risk in several ways. Also, if you let biological males on female athletic teams it has been shown over and over you are very much discriminating against biological females because there IS a difference in physical makeup.
