Continuing Education Format

I would first like to say I’m a strong supporter of Continuing Education. I have worked in a state that has been through this same process (West Virginia) and I feel it has brought many Surveyors up todate on current surveying topics, issues and reinforced many of our basic principles. It serves to educate all of us and I look forward to it in Virginia.

The people that have voiced concerned about pre approval of the courses I agree with. When we started in West Virginia it was major confusion and two of my classes (Ethics and Minimum Standards) didn’t count and I had to retake the next year (same instructor and material). I think it would be a good idea to have them preapproved by the board. It makes everything on the same playing field.

Next I think there should be a mandatory two hours on ethics and two hours on minimum standards required every four years. It only serves to cut down on regulatory violations.

Thanks for all the hard work of the Board on moving forward with this.
