Strongly oppose CE requirement

A mandatory requirement for CE would be unnecessary, expensive, and not in the best interest of the public. I have PE registrations in other states that have this requirement. I have spent untold hours and dollars on mandatory CE units - cost that I must pass along to my clients. I can't say that anything I ever learned in CE courses helped me do a better job for the public. The 'continuing education' industry is just a huge racket, and I'm sure they have their lobby hard at work at the Board. Online courses are now available for CEU's that are just laughably easy and useless. 3 CEU's can be "bought" in as little as 15 minutes. You may think I'm kidding, but here is an actual title for an online CEU class: "How to Make More Profit on your State Contracts". Now why would the State of Virginia think it is in their best interest to require engineers to take such a class that has no other purpose than to cost the State more money?!
