Education at the masters or doctoral level prepares Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide expert clinical care, lead nursing and interprofessional teams, and create systems change. Our educational preparation is as rigorous or more rigorous than that of other advanced practice nurses, yet we do not have regularity parity in the state of Virginia.  The Consensus Model from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) identifies the CNS as one of four APRN roles. It is time for Virginia to recognize the full scope of CNS practice so that we can make our maximal contribution to health outcomes across the Commonwealth. I strongly support the VACNS petition.
