Dry Needling is Acupuncture with A Few Hours Training

Hello. My name is Gregory Carey. I've been through 4 years of college and graduated the University of Richmond in Virginia, class of 2004 with a degree in Biology. I know Virginia. What I also know is acupuncture, having earned a 4 year Master's degree in 2011 from AOMA in Austin Texas in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MAcOM). I've been licensed, Nationally Board Certified (NCCAOM) and in private practice in New Jersey since 2011. Recently, the Attorney General of New Jersey issued an opinion on the subject of Dry Needling in the State of New Jersey. Accordingly, the NJ State Attorney General found that Dry Needling is acupuncture and NJ Phsyical Therapists who persue a weekend course in Dry Needling are putting the public at risk and practicing acupuncture illegally. Don't put the health and safety of Virginians at risk. Call "Dry Needling" for what it really is: acupuncture by an untrained, risky and shaky hand. Let's really get the point across here. There is nothing in the training of a Physical Therapist that involves invasively penetrating the skin barrier with a surgical implement. Keep Physical Therapists hands OUTSIDE the body, ok?
