Dry needling was imperative to my recovery from my ACL surgery.  I saw mutliple PTs at various practices and only at Solutions (a PT practice in Old Town) did I get dry needling to help with my rock hard quad muscles.  No other treatment was helping.  Dry needling loosened my quads significantly, allowing me to proceed with my recovery.
