Potential negative consequences of dry needling on pregnant women

Certain pressure points within the body are known and proven to stimulate labor in pregnant women. When these are strimulated prematurely, it can cause premature labor. This is why, for example, pregnant women are told to only receive massages from masseuses trained in prenatal massage. Acupuncturists' training includes these labor trigger points, but dry needling does not. This can be very dangerous and has the potential to have significant negative side effects, including preterm labor in pregnant women receiving dry needling.
